I have used two of these units in my home for years and they are great! We just moved into this Condo down by a lake, and the walk-out basement had a lingering mildew smell. The Ionic Breeze had knocked out the smell in a few days. In addition these things work great in a room that has a kitty-box in it. Remember to get the large unit like this one here. Stay away from the 'desk -top' units; I never had one last over a year.

I purchased this item to be used in a bedroom which contains a
ferret cage and cat litter box.
Pros: It definitely reduced the pet smells a large degree.
Cons: It produces a strange odor. My friends relate the odor to the
smell to a hospital. It's a strange electric smell. After about a
week of sleeping in this room with the ionic breeze running the
entire time, I noticed I would wake up with my breathing feeling a
little muffled. I did some research online and found that the Ionic
Breeze products were in legal battles over technicalities of how
they actually clean the air.. because it was found that they
produce a small amount of o-zone element. Further more, that those
who suffer from asthma would find their symptoms to be worse with
this product.

I live in dusty Colorado. I am constantly cleaning these things.
Perhaps the other reviewer has problems operating the unit?
I have to clean these at least once a week. They may not keep up
with a HEPA filter (I don't own one to test against), but they work
quite well and are QUIET.
These things even help keep down the smells (I have newborns).

I have bad allergies so purchased two of these models thinking that they would clean the air and help with my allergies. I was wrong - these are garbage so don't waste your money. I clean them every couple of weeks but there isn't much dirt collected in them and they don't seem to do anything - I can't believe that these are selling at such a high price and all the hype is just that. They don't do anything, they certainly don't clean the air or help with allergies and they are a complete waste of money. I can't believe that I was stupid enough to purchase two of them thinking that the Sharper Image advertisements were actually true. Don't waste your money!

I purchased this after recommendation of a friend. I have awful
year round allergies, particularly to dust, dust mites, mold and
pollen. I was amazed on the first night, I had the best night sleep
and my sinus felt great. I'm amazed at the amount of air bourne
pollution it grabs. Keeping it clean weekly keeps it running in top
condition.
Really the Sharper Image ionic breeze is the best!!!!!!!!!
I've tried other air purifiers but this one has done what it
claims. I've purchased two and run them 24 hours. I'm glad that
them.
